Are you someone who loves to be well-prepared when you travel? I certainly am. Before my first backpacking trip, I scoured the internet for advice on what to bring, how to pack efficiently, and ways to keep everything organized. Despite my best intentions, I definitely overpacked and then had to lugg around my heavy backpack for three weeks. A harsh but effective lesson. Figuring out your packing list, is a personal process and really depends on the type of trip, comfort and your own preferences. After numerous backpacking adventures, I’ve certainly figured out what is essential for me to bring and what to leave behind. In this blogpost I will show you my ultimate packinglist that I wish I used on my first trip South-East Asia. It comes with a handy free downloadable checklist!
When I go backpacking I usually bring 3 bags: A big backpack, a small day pack, and a slingbag. When moving from place to place, I wear the big backpack on my back, and hook the small daypack to my front shoulderstraps. My slingbag never leaves my side, and is always hanging around my shoulder.
I categorize my packinglist by bag-type, to ensure everything I need is in the right place.
